What brands ask first.
What is a digital product passport?
A digital product passport is a product's data in digital form, reached through a data carrier on the product, such as a QR code, with a unique identifier for each product. In the EU, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, ESPR (EU) 2024/1781, is the framework: a delegated act per product group sets which data is required and from when. Batteries have their own rule: from 18 February 2027, every LMT battery, every industrial battery over 2 kWh and every electric vehicle battery must have a battery passport (Batteries Regulation, Article 77).
When do we need a passport?
Batteries first: from 18 February 2027 for electric vehicle batteries, LMT batteries and industrial batteries over 2 kWh. The Commission's working plan gives 2027 as the indicative year for the delegated acts for textiles and tyres, and 2028 for furniture; as a rule, a delegated act applies no earlier than 18 months after it enters into force. Toys need a passport from 1 August 2030. Other product groups and construction products follow when their delegated acts are adopted.
What is Blippa, and what is DPP Agent?
Blippa is the company behind DPP Agent. DPP Agent is the platform for product passports: data, checks, identifiers, archive, your look and the services in the passport. Blippa services are for special needs that should not live in the passport, such as Lost & Found, ownership history and logs from other systems.
Who owns the data?
You do. The passport lives on your own domain and is archived in versions, so every change can be traced.
Can we use our own design?
Yes. The passport in DPP Agent measures your brand: colours, fonts and buttons, and lives on your own domain. If you need a completely free design for a particular audience, that is available as a Blippa service.
Does the customer have to log in?
No. The passport never asks for a login and does not track the reader. Login exists only for what is personal, such as ownership history, and that lives in Blippa services.
What happens to the code if we change provider?
The code points to your own domain and follows GS1 Digital Link. It works whoever runs the passport.
Does the AI make data up?
No. Ask the passport answers only from the passport's own data, and says when the passport does not know. Missing data stays empty until someone fills it in.
What does it cost?
Starter is free of charge, and we deliver a demo within 24 hours. Professional, Enterprise and Custom are priced by plan plus a fee per active product passport, and there are no implementation fees for the plans you set up yourselves. Services, microsites and what you need built are scoped case by case: book a meeting and we will go through it.
Make the passport the product's best page.
Start with one product. We build the passport from what you already publish, and show what is missing.
